Decorative Boxes

For thousands of years, humans have used the simple wooden box as not only a storage container, but a piece of ornamentation as well. The decorative wooden box was probably the first piece of home decoration to be used by people. Throughout the world, from Central Asia to Central America, the decorative wooden box has evolved to become more than just a container. Puzzle boxes, decorative wooden boxes of rich mahogany and lacquer have adorned the homes of peoples, rich and poor, from Thailand to the Andes. The Decorative Wooden Box, a true piece of practical art the world over.Decorative boxes can easily be incorporated with decor in any room and make a great gift for many types of occasions. Themes in our box collection include animal, floral and reverse painted glass and are designed from materials such as mate gourd. Featured artist Adelina Rendon was just seven years old when her mother taught her the family’s traditional art of lacquered wood. She creates several designs including small boxes, trunks and traditional masks. Rendon’s work has garnered her several awards.
